Six years ago I fell in love with baking. I grew up baking the usual: Christmas cookies, birthday cakes, etc., but it wasn't until I was out on my own that I discovered how much I enjoyed baking things for people, especially as a surprise! I don’t remember the exact moment it dawned on me, but somewhere in there I figured I had to go to culinary school. I enrolled at Oregon Culinary Institute and a year later I graduated. It was one of the best and most memorable times in my life. I worked as a pastry chef in restaurants for the next couple of years, but it wasn’t the best fit for me--I was missing that interaction with the people who were enjoying what I made.
At the urging of a friend in the industry I decided to start my own business. With some care and hard work, Délice has managed to come far in the last two years. I make everything I possibly can from scratch using fresh and real ingredients (no lard, no carton eggs, no imitation vanilla!). I pride myself on the quality and love that goes into everything I make. I am thrilled when I get to create a customized layout for a celebration or event. I consider myself an artisan and I’m in it for the long haul.
My dream is to one day have my own French-country styled store front with displays of fresh treats and petit fours for people to enjoy, while continuing with catering and markets. The greatest feeling in the world is seeing the joy on someone’s face when they try one of my desserts.
Thanks for visiting, hope to hear from you soon! :)
